Whodunnit! The annual Pablos group show is back to showcase the latest and greatest works by the artists and tutors of Pablos Art Studios. From the 8th to the 24th of April, ROAR! gallery will be filled to the rafters with a huge range of new and exciting work, created by people who practice and present an art making approach uniquely their own. A group is only as interesting as the people that make it up, and the individual artists at Pablos have generated an outstandingly varied body of work.
Pablos is one of New Zealand’s leading creative spaces, sited in the heart of Wellington’s most creative area. The studio and gallery provide support and opportunities to people who have experienced mental illness.
Pablos provides free access to the arts for its artists. Over 100 artists a year use the space and with the support of tutors experiment with a wide range of mediums and styles. One of the artists commented, “The value [of Pablos] is in the vast mix of people you have access to and the connection with the idea that I might be creative. It’s my reason to get out of bed and provides a social tick box - artist vs. nut!”
Pablos artists exhibit through ROAR! gallery which is funded by, and is an important part of Pablos operation and philosophy. Once a year, the gallery holds an exhibition solely of Pablos Artists work. At other times the gallery also provides opportunities for artists in the wider community. ROAR! specialises in the promotion of Outsider Art, and our focus is not to define this term but to be open to those who create a visual language which is specifically their own and speaks volumes about that person and their approach to life.
So come along to the opening of Whodunnit! 5.30pm Thursday 8th April and see for yourself!
ROAR! gallery is a vibrant gallery which aims to support and promote Outsider Art. We exhibit work by those artists who feel connected to an art making approach which is unique, honest, compelling and about a person’s total connection with their creativity. We're proud to bring you this thrilling combination of talent and awareness.
