Operatunity’s ‘It’s a Great Day for the Irish’
Operatunity’s ‘It’s a Great Day for the Irish’ concert
Just when you thought St Patrick’s Day was over, award-winning Operatunity is back in town with their hit show; “It’s a Great Day for the Irish”.
The nation-wide tour of day-time concerts features New Zealand’s own furiously fast fiddler Marian Burns, alongside singers Cameron Barclay, John Cameron, Susan Boland, and pianist Alex Wiltshire.
Burns describes the show as having fabulous “toe-tapping, hand-clapping” Irish music and songs and says she can’t wait to see audiences all dressed up in green.
“I can say without reservation that Operatunity really know how to put on a show,” says Burns.
“All elements work so well - the team performing on stage, the energy, the banter, the music, and the wonderful audiences who sing along and really appreciate this special time together.”
The frenzied fiddler returns to Operatunity for her second concert tour after being presented with three major awards in the last year, including a Golden Fiddle “2010 Life Time Achievement Award” in New South Whales.
“It’s a great day for the Irish” showcases all-time favourites like ‘When Irish eyes are smiling’, ‘Danny Boy’, ‘Rose of Tralee’, and ‘Galway Bay’.
After being crowned Top Group at the 2009 Variety Artist Club awards, Operatunity’s latest tour is set to energize audiences from Whangarei to Invercargill.
Following Operatunity’s highly successful Three Tenors and a Soprano tour receiving standing ovations every show, the Irish season is part of Operatunity’s series of daytime concerts which tour the country eight times each year.
With concerts starting at 11am, audiences are given the opportunity to interact with the artists by sharing lunch with them after the show.
Tickets are just $27 with lunch included, available online at www.operatunity.co.nz or by calling toll free on 0508 266 237. Discounts are available for groups, but seats fill up fast so bookings are essential.
