[Update: THis event has been cancelled. See... Architecture of Consequence: Public Talk Cancelled]

Public Talk - Thursday 22 April 2010 6pm

Ole Bouman Director of Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAI)

Presents Architecture of Consequence in association with SCAPE 2010

Ole Bouman, Director of the Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAI), will discuss the need for architecture to respond to today's pressing social concerns. He challenges urban designers to come up with progressive proposals and ideas, aimed at accomplishing the transition from a reactive to a proactive design practice. Repositioning the discipline of architecture requires an international shift and concerted efforts to shape concrete design propositions that underline the importance of this design approach in spatial planning practice.

Thursday 22 April, 6.00pm
Arts Centre of Christchurch
School of Art, Room 4
Entrance corner of Hereford St and Rolleston Avenue

Free admission

Ole Bouman has been director of the Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAI) since April 2007. Before taking up that position he was editor-in-chief of the periodical Volume.

SCAPE 2010 is the 6th Christchurch Biennial of art in public space and runs from 24 September - 7 November, promising a comprehensive and ambitious display of art in the city centre: prompting discussion about our urban environment.
