Big Friday For Big Wednesday Players

Big Friday For Big Wednesday Players

It’s been a big Friday for this week’s Big Wednesday winners who claimed their massive $6,087,805 prize in the NZ Lotteries Wellington office today, according to NZ Lotteries’ Chief Executive Todd McLeay.

“We had a very excited Auckland couple come in the office today, as it was the first time they’d booked a full price fare on a plane, first time they’d caught a Corporate cab and not a shuttle from the airport, and definitely the first time they’d collected over $6 million!” says Mr McLeay.

The couple, who bought their ticket at Eastridge Lotto in Orakei, say they’ve been on a winning streak lately, but this one really takes the cake!

“We won a trip to Sydney with a competition and just got back a couple of weeks ago, then we won a Second Chance draw at our local Lotto store, and now this – it really does come in threes,” says the winning woman.

“My husband can retire now, we’ll give some to the children, and probably have an overseas trip, but I’ll still keep an eye on the sales, and probably still shop at Pak N Save because that’s how I’ve always been.”

The winners also admit to having mixed feelings when they found out they’d won.

“I felt sick, and haven’t been able to eat, and have lost weight in the past two days, but we also feel wonderful, and can’t wait to share this great experience with each other,” she says.

They are also going to share their good fortune with two NZ charities that they have a close affiliation with – the Heart Foundation of New Zealand and the SPCA.

The prize is made up of $5,839,970 from Big Wednesday’s First Division prize package, plus $247,835 from Second Division.
