Anyone for Tea?

Mahu, mother and baby skincare together with Onewa and West Auckland Parents Centres are jointly hosting a fundraiser the ‘mahu High Tea at the Hilton’ on Mother's day, Sunday 9th May. Our special guest for the afternoon will be Robyn Malcolm, celebrity TV Mum from Outrageous Fortune and Shortland Street. MC for the event will be Penny Hulse, Deputy Mayor for Waitakere City.

“Being a mum is one of the hardest jobs in the world! mahu’s mission is to nurture, support, and value New Zealand mums for the work they do. Working with Onewa and West Auckland Parent Centres to provide our ‘mahu High Tea at the Hilton’ for mothers day, as well as helping to raise much needed funds for Parents Centre is one way we can do that”. Onewa and West Auckland Parents Centres are part of a national non-profit organisation run by volunteers. They provide parent education and support to expectant and new families in their communities. Previously they have received partial funding through the ACE scheme (Adult Community Education) however with recent changes removing this funding it has meant they are needing to undertake fundraising in order to keep providing their essential services to their local communities.

Robyn Malcolm is a mother to two boys and has recently shifted to Sydney to progress her career. Robyn's comment on parenting "A dear friend said to me once regarding parenting -
“Be flexible about absolutely everything and never forget that you are the expert on your own children, nobody else” .I’ve always liked this because at face value both ideas seem simple, but they are not. To remain flexible requires enormous attention and energy. To trust your own instincts and rely on your own assessments around your kids requires enormous confidence. Attention and confidence-2 concepts that most hard working, stressed, over committed, under funded, info bombarded parents are challenged with on a daily basis!"

Details of the mahu High Tea: Sunday 9th May 2 - 4.30pm at the Hilton Hotel, Princess wharf, Quay Street, Auckland. Tickets are only $65 per person (if paid before 30th April) which includes a relaxing afternoon overlooking Auckland's glorious harbour while enjoying a platter of exquisite sandwiches, savouries, pastries, tea and coffee. The silent auction and raffle will include Mahu products, a Fisher & Paykel dishwasher, night at the Hilton, and a bottle of wine signed by John Key.
