‘Levin, for Beginners’

For immediate release

‘Levin, for Beginners’ first Wellington show to sell out in the 2010 International Comedy Festival

Comedy show ‘Levin, for Beginners’ has become the first show in the 2010 International Comedy Festival to sell out all available nights in Wellington, with only Auckland shows ‘5 Star Comedy Preview’ and Australian act Rove having also done so a week before the festival begins.

The last tickets were sold Friday, April 16. Amongst the correspondence received by the group, former Horowhenua MP (and current Labour list MP) Darren Hughes has tweeted about it, and is attempting to get hold of extra, recently unavailable tickets. To meet unanticipated demand, an extra show will be added on Friday, May 7 at 10pm. Tickets are available via Ticketek.

Ecstatic why demand has been unusually high this early on, the performers assume well-balanced small town humour strikes the right chord. It’s also suspected many Wellingtonians have moved in from smaller towns, and enjoyed the to-and-fro on the topic over the years.

The show comprises of Wellington comedians Gareth Bradley, Jez Brown, Nathan Winter (2010 RAW Comedy Quest finalist) and MC Brad Zimmerman. All regular performers in Wellington, they draw on their experiences growing up in Upper Hutt, Hamilton and Levin to form the base of the show.

The show runs in week 2 of the 2010 International Comedy Festival, May 5 – 8, 8pm, and an encore show May 7 – 10pm at Katipo Café, Willis St.

End.
