grabaseat grabs a plane for 10 Opshop gigs

grabaseat grabs a plane for 10 Opshop gigs in one day

NZ Music Month turns 10 years old this May and to mark this milestone grabaseat is really pushing out the boat….well the plane to be correct.

Saturday 1st May sees the major national launch for NZ Music Month, with 10 official gigs happening all over the country. From the Jordan Luck Band in Kaitaia to Die Die Die in Dunedin, you’ll catch bands in bars, museums, art galleries, shopping malls and school halls.

But for the tenth official gig grabseat thought, what a great excuse to do 10 more!

grabaseat and Opshop are setting off in a 50 seat Q300 aircraft on a country-wide journey to play ten shows all over the place. This is no easy feat to pull off, but if anyone can do it, it’s grabaseat!

“Starting in Christchurch at some ridiculous hour of the morning, the “Opshop One Day…10 Gigs Tour” then heads off to Timaru, Hokitika, Nelson, Wanganui, Hawkes Bay, Gisborne, Hamilton and ends in Auckland,” says grabaseat Manager Duane Perrott.

“Yes, we know that’s only nine, but you try getting to 10 cities in one day so our tenth gig will be an in flight performance somewhere over Mt Cook!”

To make things just that little more special, there’s some room on board for a select number of Opshop’s biggest fans from around Aotearoa. Go to www.grabaseat.co.nz and www.nzmusicmonth.co.nz to find out how you can win one of these seats.

For those who miss out on this whirlwind tour, there’s still the chance to join in at the www.1-day.co.nz official afterparty at Butterfly Creek, near Auckland Airport, where Opshop will perform a full and final set, their 10th of the day… Again, head to www.grabaseat.co.nz and www.nzmusicmonth.co.nz to find out how you can secure your tickets.

Throughout May grabaseat will also be offering a pile of great deals on its website to ensure Kiwi music fans can ‘grab a gig’ and get around the country to see their favourite home-grown bands, including exclusive packages, weekend getaways and some money-can’t-buy experiences . See www.grabaseat.co.nz for more information.
