Behold, the
Raybonbonbon!
He’s been around the world, winning awards for his comedy in far-away places, and is one of New Zealand’s most successful comedians. Now, in a first for kiwi comics, Raybon Kan has his very own ice cream.
The Italian gelato boutique Giapo will launch a special ice cream that fuses Italy and China in a way not seen since Marco Polo, to celebrate Raybon’s return to the New Zealand International Comedy Festival.
The Raybonbonbon will be launched 1pm Wednesday April 28 at Giapo’s 279 Queen St store and Raybon will be on hand for the first lick and to give away some free tickets to his shows in Auckland next week.
The ice cream is a combination of Green Tea, Blueberry and Chocolate Chip flavours. Raybon believes this is a super combination aimed to stimulate the senses – and the mind.
"It has always been a dream of mine to be an ice cream flavour. It's cool, refreshing and now people can lick me without me even being there,” said Raybon.
“First you have the anti-oxidant goodness of green tea, blueberry is an amazing superfood that inhibits cancer-cell development and also helps alleviate conditions of aging such as Alzheimers, and the cocoa in chocolate chip is good for the brain. I got this out of Wikipedia, so it must be true.”
Raybon returns to the stage with his new comedy show The Discomfort Zone, asking the hard questions and doing all your thinking for you on the issues that haunt, dog, face and threaten your peace of mind.
You may not like the answers. But Raybon’s duty as an artist is to enter the Discomfort Zone and risk being the only one saying the emperor is naked. He will do this live, onstage and completely without name suppression.
No stranger to the screen and the stage, Raybon was named New Zealand's best comedian by North and South Magazineand has performed around the world including the Melbourne Comedy Festival, Montreal Comedy Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe.
"He performs a great set with natural flair and confidence." 3 Weeks, Edinburgh 2009.
