Xplosion Ultimate Martial Arts Event Hits NZ Shores: NZ Vs Japan
In the most exciting fight show to hit our shores, Xplosion, the international ultimate martial arts event will see New Zealand’s combat elite facing Japan’s best, lead by Judo Olympic gold medallist, Satoshi Ishii at Auckland’s YMCA stadium next Saturday, 15th May 2010.
Following sell-out shows in Australia, Hong Kong and Japan, Xplosion is set to make its debut with headliner Ishii facing New Zealand WKBF Super Heavyweight Kickboxing Champion, Tafa ‘Thumper’ Mispati in a Mixed Martial Arts bout. This will be an exciting clash of the martial arts codes.
Also coming in from Japan, is Kenji Kamiyama to face local crowd favourite Roger ‘Wild’ Earp. This will be an X rules title bout – the first time these rules have been fought in New Zealand. X rules will see the first round as three minutes of kickboxing, the second round, will be four minutes of shoot boxing and the third round, five minutes of MMA.
Richie ‘Hardcore’ – a popular 95 bFM DJ and well known and respected local fighter will battle the popular Japanese fighter ‘Hamada’ in a kickboxing match up.
The explosive undercard for this event sees five New
Zealand title fights and a performance from the Tamashi
Taiko Japanese drumming team.
A press conference is
scheduled at the fighters weigh in, on Friday, 14th May at
6pm at Platos, 43 Ponsonby Road, Auckland.
