a DANZ intern initiative
W.I.P '10 is set to kick off at Galatos in May with the support of MIC Toi Rerehiko and will run throughout the winter months of 2010. The DANZ interns are excited to present this opportunity for emerging choreographers and performers like themselves.
This initiative is designed to give emerging choreographers a chance to present ideas and works in progress to an audience within a friendly environment. The aim is to generate feedback and support for choreographers to aid the progression of their work.
The May performances will be on the 25th and 26th and will showcase some new ideas and known themes from fresh perspectives. The diverse lineup presenting consists of graduates from The New Zealand School of Dance,Unitec, and students of Auckland University Post Graduate Dance Programme. The elements explored in season one range from grief and dark secrets to psychological architecture of self; Choreography by Benny Ord, Amy Mauvan, Hannah Tasker- Poland, Zhara Killeen-Chance and Emily Campbell.
The DANZ interns of 2010 are graduates from the Unitec, Auckland University and AUT dance programmes. The interest from across the spectrum of New Zealand dance practitioners shows that there is an urgent need for an initiative such as W.I.P'10. The potential of this platform is limitless and could easily flourish into something that will notably benefit dance in New Zealand.
Each season will run out of Galatos over two
nights:

followed by a forum facilitated by Raewyn

Tickets are available at the door - $10 general admission $8 commission.
