History Repeats For Hutton

Five years on, 15-year-old King’s College student Arie Hutton has repeated double karting wins on consecutive weekends.

In 2005 Arie won the Cadet titles at both the WPKA Championships and the KartSport Mt Wellington Club Championships. This year on Queens Birthday weekend Arie won the WPKA Championship at Hawke's Bay in Junior Yamaha and last weekend the KartSport Mt Wellington Club Championship in KF3.
Arie’s note book:

2010 WPKA Championships

"Practice day was sunny and crisp resulting in a good horsepower day. On old tyres we were only a tenth off our lap record set at the Nationals. However the forecast was for rain and on race day conditions were rather mixed. We had a good run in most of the heats however a wrong tyre choice when off pole for heat four resulted in some very cooked wet tyres. We used what is normally our practice Spark engine on the Super Freight EVR the whole weekend giving this engine its first victory. The WPKA Junior trophy represents a lot of history including a few names both Mum and Dad later raced with in Seniors! The trophy was first awarded in 1961 to W Triplow. Other winners include Greg Murphy (1987 & 88), Jason Richards (1992), Brendon Hartley (2000) and Earl Bamber (2003 & 04)."

KartSport Mt Wellington Club Championships

"On return from Hawke's Bay my Super Freight EVR was stripped and the Vortex KF3 installed. We had not raced at Mt Wellington since December 2008 so it took a while to get back in the groove on practice day. Once again conditions were mixed and we only had one race on slicks. I made a mistake going for the lead in heat one and this resulted in a relegation back to 10th. However Rollo Davies and I managed to make it a Tony Kart/Vortex front row for the fifth heat. Unfortunately Rollo had an engine issue during the race so all we needed to do was follow Brad Hicks home to secure the inaugural KF3 Club Championship title."
