St John needs your help: St John Appeal

Media release

18 June 2010

St John needs your help:  St John Appeal

The flashing lights of St John ambulances are a familiar sign of help at medical emergencies and community events throughout New Zealand.

Now it’s the turn of St John to ask the public for help.  St John is a charity and relies on public support to provide its wide range of ambulance services and community services.

St John is working together with its community partner ASB to raise funds during the annual Flash a Light for St John Appeal during St John Week, 20 to 26 June 2010.

St John Chief Executive Jaimes Wood says “community support helps ensure St John can continue caring for your family members, colleagues and neighbours when help is most needed.”

How to donate:

·      St John Appeal envelope – being delivered to more than 500,000 letterboxes and to households nationwide

·      Phone 0800 ST JOHN (0800 785 646)

·      Go to www.stjohn.org.nz

·      Visit any ASB branch

A range of organisations throughout New Zealand are supporting the St John Appeal by lighting their buildings externally with red lights to celebrate the Flash a Light for St John Appeal.  This includes the ASB Bank Centre in Auckland’s CBD.

St John provides ambulance services to more than 85% of New Zealanders, and is a significant provider of community services nationwide.

St John would like to take this opportunity to thank and acknowledge all its donors and supporters, including community partner ASB and corporate supporters Wesfarmers Industrial and Safety, Bunnings Warehouse and Muffin Break.
