Expo Reflects Migration Trends

8th Auckland Migrant Expo 2010, 26 June 2010, 10am-4pm, ASB Showgrounds: www.migrantexpo.co.nz, www.lookeast.co.nz

AUCKLAND — New Zealand’s only expo dedicated to helping migrants and refugees settle successfully in New Zealand is evolving in response to recent migration trends.

Over the years, the scope of the show has widened with the addition of several strands within the main event to respond to changing needs and to cater to emerging sectors, for example, the rapid increase in the number of highly skilled Filipino migrants coming into the country over the last few year, the phenomenal growth and importance of the international student market to our economy and the emergence of a new breed of business migrants who are setting up enterprises to cater to both the migrant market and mainstream New Zealand.

The eighth annual Auckland Migrant Expo (www.migrantexpo.co.nz), which takes place at the ASB Showgrounds on Saturday, 26 June 2010. The addition of the Asian Expo, Filipino Expo, Look East (South East Asian Festival) and International Students Fair as new Pavilions within the main show the organisers expect to attract both new and settled migrants as well as international students and Kiwi Filipinos.

This year, the expo expects to draw a record number of exhibitors and attendees, reflecting the growing importance of the migrant market to businesses in this country and it acknowledges the contribution of migrants to our economy. Entry to the show is free of charge from 10am-4pm. It is once again sponsored by Western Union.
