Final Call for Style Pasifika Fashion Awards Entries

With less than two weeks to go before entries to the 2010 Westfield Style Pasifika New Zealand Fashion Awards close, fashion, design and style enthusiasts are reminded to enter their designs to this year’s awards before the 9 July cut off date.

“Style Pasifika is open to everyone – every age and from every background” says Stan Wolfgramm, Westfield Style Pasifika creative director and show producer. 

“We have entrants from all over New Zealand and as far as the Pacific Islands and Australia.  We’ve had entrants as young as 16 and as old as 66, from professional fashion designers to absolute beginners.”

Now in its seventeenth year, Westfield Style Pasifika challenges designers to produce cutting edge fashion inspired by the unique and colourful fusion of Pasifika. The result is an explosion of fashion, art and culture and something that helps define a unique New Zealand style.

Finalists will have their designs scrutinised by a talented line of judges and will  have the chance to win up to $15,000 in prizes alongside mentorships, professional photography and credentials for portfolios.

Judges will search for winners in ten categories; MAC Pasifika Body Art, Youthtown Traditionally Inspired, Resene Asia Pasifika, Max Three Piece Collection of Day Wear, NZAF-PPP Pasifika Hero, Flava Urban Street Wear, Barkers Pasifika Menswear, Evening Wear, Pacific Blue Pasifika Bridal and Te Puni Kokiri Parent & Child, as well as the overall TVNZ Supreme Winner.

Entry forms for Westfield Style Pasifika are available nationwide from Westfield Malls, fashion, and textile design schools, or can be downloaded from www.stylepasifika.co.nz. All forms must be received by 9 July 2010, with garments to follow on 29 July 2010.
