Commission Welcomes Review
Commission Welcomes Review
The New Zealand Film Commission today said it welcomed the suggestions for improvements that have emerged from a Review by Sir Peter Jackson and David Court.
NZFC Board Chair, Patsy Reddy, said “the Board is pleased to have such a strong affirmation of the importance of the Film Commission’s role.
“We are pleased to see such a good range of constructive suggestions to the way we help the industry.
“We will review them with our Minister in the context of our requirement to get best value for public money.”
She was concerned that the report showed some people in the industry feel the Commission is a barrier to their film making aspirations.
“It’s a tough position we’re in – there’s never enough money to go around. But we believe we can do better. We have already been talking to filmmakers during the course of this review about ways to improve our work with them.”
“Under the leadership of a new CEO and Chair many of the operational and governance changes suggested by the Report are already being addressed. The Board and Staff will now focus on how best to develop a long term game plan which takes account of the Report’s recommendations to focus on identifying, supporting and rewarding talent.”
