Tartan Day Celebration

The members of Fiji Club of New Zealand (FCNZ) and the President Alton Shameem JP Marched into the Tartan Day Tattoo celebration Day held today at North Shore Events Center, Auckland the City of Tartans.

“We were warmly welcomed by our friendly Scottish brothers and sisters and settled down to soak in the celebration” said Alton Shameem the Founder and Leader of Fiji Club of New Zealand (FCNZ)

“His Worship the Major of North Shore City, Andrew Williams JP performed the official opening ceremony.

The versatile North Shore Councilor Grant Gillon, Jill Nerheny the pro-active Birkenhead Community Co-ordinator and many, many hundreds of spectators attended the Tartan Day Celebration.

The Scottish Highland Tattoo dances were gracefully performed after a grand start from the Massed Bands, the Balmoral Dancers and the Skiwis (Bob Wallace and his Merry Men)’’ said Alton Shameem the Chairman of Fiji Club of New Zealand (FCNZ)

“Monte-Cassino Re-enactment WW11 by the Historical Society of NZ was very surreal, emotional and touching,

The brave and courageous soldiers from our great country New Zealand, India, Britain under the leadership of the great Americans were able to liberate Monte-Cassino and us so that we can keep the freedom flame burning” said Alton Shameem the Community Leader and Founder of Fiji Club of New Zealand (FCNZ).

“Drummers Salute by the Massed Bands in conjunction with the Balmoral Dancers honorably ensured after the Cassino Re-enactment.

The potent and moving Tartan Day Celebration Tattoo concluded with Leisure Marching Teams, Keyboard Music by Winston Allan and the Massed Bands with full cast.
We all had a culturally educational, entertaining and enjoyable afternoon.

Engaged and touched base with the people.
