Petone Winter Carnival returns bigger than ever
Petone Winter Carnival returns bigger than
ever
Petone Foreshore will come alive on
14 August with the return of the iconic Petone Winter
Carnival.
From giant fire sculptures, to a polar plunge, carnival rides, bouncing castle, food fair, circus workshops, jugglers and street performances there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Organisers are also expecting an influx of visitors from outside the Hutt after news Wellington’s Cuba Street Carnival is not going ahead.
Mayor David Ogden says Petone has its own Cuba Street and the Winter Carnival is a fantastic event for the whole family.
“It’s a great excuse to get out with the family and make a day of it in Petone. There is so much on offer, from the carnival at the foreshore to the café and shops in Jackson Street.”
“After last year’s carnival, our research showed the event is one people look forward to each year.”
“There was scope to make things bigger and better this year so that’s just what we’ve done,” he says.
The carnival starts at 2pm and finishes with the ever popular Pelorus Trust Fireshow at 7.30pm. The postponement date is Sunday 15 August.
