Eclipse Fever Level about to be Raised

Eclipse Fever Level about to be Raised

12 July – Eclipse fans are in for a treat with EVENT Cinema securing exclusive access in New Zealand to the actual clothing worn in the movie for a limited period of time.

EVENT Cinemas’ general manager for New Zealand, Jane Hastings says as a result of the response to Eclipse they had no hesitation in going “all out” to secure the international clothing exhibition.

“We owe it to our moviegoers; they are die-hard fans of the trilogy and to be able to see the actual clothing will be the ultimate.”

The clothing has been touring the world most recently in Spain. On arrival the conditions of securing the exclusive arrangement included enclosing the outfits in non-breakable glass cases and 24/7 security guard protection.

“You’d think we had Jacob coming as well but sadly no, although we do have his famous ripped shorts which have caused significant outbursts of screaming when he is first seen in them in each of the movies.”

Ms. Hastings says it is common for their customers to turn up dressed as their favourite character and to call out during the movie.

“We’ve had what we termed a "wolf pack” turn up. The group of guys were dressed as Jacob look alikes, complete with cut off shorts, tattoos and no shirts. Sadly none of them quite resembled Jacobs six pack but they got the attention and applause they were no doubt looking for.”

If you think this movie is just for teenage girls then you’d be wrong. EVENT Cinema managers across the country have been stunned at the enthusiasm and energy associated with the release of Eclipse and Ms Hastings says it isn’t just the girls.

“Mums might use their children as the excuse when buying the t-shirts or umbrellas but trust me they are just as much of a fan as their son or daughter. When our managers ask them what team they are on, they definitely have an opinion – it’s fantastic to see.”
The movie was released at midnight on 1 July and EVENT Cinema presold tickets in advance to over 10,000 people across New Zealand to watch the opening screenings.
“Our website went nuts. Our Manukau cinema had the second largest midnight box office in Australasia. Our Chartwell (Hamilton) cinema sold out its complete cinema for The Twilight Saga three days after going on sale – all six theatres completely sold out.”
Ms Hastings says with similar stories across the country secure the exclusive rights to the clothing exhibition was a must.
“We knew it would be huge and if our Facebook page feedback is anything to go by, it is going to be massive.”
