Wellingtonians invited to play bingo with the All Blacks
Thousands of All Blacks fans around the country have enjoyed a classic game of bingo with the All Blacks during the 2010 test match season, and now its Wellington’s turn to join in the fun.
New All Blacks supporters’ movement BackingBlack hits town this week, bringing their free bingo game to the Reading Courtenay cinema complex in Courtenay Place at lunchtime on Wednesday. There will be several All Blacks taking part; mingling with fans and handing out prizes to the bingo winners.
Wellington’s Jamie O’Donnell, a founding member of BackingBlack, says it’s an ideal time for local fans to get out and show their support for the All Blacks, with the second game in the 2010 Investec TriNations kicking off at Westpac Stadium on Saturday.
“BackingBlack Bingo is our way of introducing ourselves to All Blacks fans. We’re all about bringing a bit of fun back into the way we support the team.
“We’ve got some great prizes up for grabs, from tickets to Saturday’s game, to Telecom mobile phones, to some extra-special ‘player’ prizes. Fans of all ages are welcome to come down, meet Jerome Kaino, Corey Flynn and Ben Franks, and get onboard with BackingBlack,” says Jamie.
BackingBlack is for anyone who wants to have fun supporting the All Blacks in the lead up to 2011, and it has been made possible with the support of All Blacks’ sponsor Telecom.
Supporters in New Plymouth, Dunedin, Hamilton and Auckland have experienced BackingBlack Bingo, as BackingBlack’s seven founding members - known as the Starting Line Up – travel the country recruiting new members.
There are loads of awesome member benefits, from chances to win tickets to All Blacks matches, to opportunities to get closer to the team - like watching them perform the haka from the sideline, and behind-the-scenes stadium tours.
Jamie won his place in BackingBlack’s Starting Line Up following a nationwide search and audition for the country’s most passionate All Blacks supporters.
He advises Wellington locals to keep an eye out for the BackingBlack crew around town during the week, and to visit www.backingblack.co.nz for more information about fun activities in the build up to Saturday’s test match at the Cake Tin.
