Queenstown Winter Festival Director Back For 2011

Queenstown Winter Festival Director Back For 2011

Destination Queenstown is delighted to announce that Simon Green has been reappointed to the role of Festival Director for the 2011 American Express Queenstown Winter Festival.

Mr Green, a Queenstown local and multi-talented performer, event manager, producer and marketing consultant, returned as Festival Director for 2010 after a two-year hiatus. He had previously managed four Winter Festivals - 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2007.

Destination Queenstown is the owner of the 36-year-old event and CEO Tony Everitt is very happy to be able to secure Mr Green for next year’s festival.

“Simon and the festival team have done a fantastic job of this year’s event and their creative direction and operational execution has been vital to the festival’s success.

“The Winter Festival has grown from humble beginnings to the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest winter party and is an important part of our winter marketing activity in New Zealand and Australia.

“One of the major challenges of ensuring a long-running event is successful is to keep it fresh and we believe Simon has the flair, creativity and professionalism to deliver that. Thriller in the Chiller, the festival’s biggest new event this year, was a huge success and Simon has plenty more exciting ideas up his sleeve for next year.”

Mr Green is looking forward to returning next year and already has the key members of his production team in place.

“I’m keen to build on the success of this year’s festival, fine tune some of the new events to make them bigger and better and work on some new ideas. Right now though, we’re about to get stuck into sponsorship for 2011.”

The 2011 Queenstown Winter Festival will run from 24 June to 3 July.
