Donate, Listen or Bid – Support the Solid Gold Radiothon for Variety

Variety – The Children’s Charity has its sights set on raising $50,000 for sick, disabled and disadvantaged children during next weekend’s Solid Gold Radiothon and needs help from the Kiwi public!

“Whether it’s a $10 donation or a bid on one of our fantastic Trade Me auction items, there are so many fun ways people can get involved to help Variety,” said Lorraine Taylor, CEO of Variety, which is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary in New Zealand and helps sick, disabled and disadvantaged Kiwi kids to reach their full potential.

“Solid Gold’s DJs will be joined by celebrities such as Shane Cortese, Jayne Kiely, Ewen Gilmour and Hilary Timmins on air on Friday 13th – Sunday 15th August raising money for Variety grants such as insulin pumps for diabetic children, specialised trikes for children with mobility issues, laptop computers and other items which are not funded by other organisations,” said Ms Taylor.

“Around the country, the Solid Gold teams have organised a number of community fundraising events and DJ Macca will be undertaking a road trip around the North Island.

“There is also a fantastic array of auction items on Trade Me including a $5 note signed by former Variety Vice Patron Sir Edmund Hillary, a $10,000 advertising package from Solid Gold and a range of collectables from Weta Workshop.

“As a national charity, it’s appropriate that there are also fantastic auction items donated by generous companies around the country – there really is something for everyone!” continued Ms Taylor.

“Get involved in Solid Gold Radiothon 2010 for Variety – tune into Solid Gold in your local area to find out more,” concluded Ms Taylor.
