Garage Sale Gets Set To Rock
The New Zealand Herald Designer Garage Sale Gets Set To Rock the New Zealand Fashion Weekend
The New Zealand
fashion industry is eagerly counting down to the start of
New Zealand Fashion Week, but it’s at the Fashion Weekend
when the fun starts for followers of fashion - with
workshops, seminars, designer shows, entertainment and of
course, the legendary New Zealand Herald Designer Garage
Sale.
From the evening of Friday 24th of September
when the New Zealand Herald Designer Garage Sale
opens, until close on Sunday 26th, wardrobes will be
revamped en masse as thousands of fashion shoppers take
advantage of the amazing deals on show.
43 designers including well-known names like Huffer, Federation and Stolen Girlfriends Club are joined by new designers in a space that is now at full capacity. An amazing line-up of clothing, shoe, jewellery and accessory labels will be reducing winter and new season items to a fraction of the original price.
More names making a return this year are
Adrian Hailwood, BLAK, Chaos & Harmony, Deborah Sweeney,
Kagi, Lonely Hearts, Michael Pattison, Michelle Yvette, Moa,
Sabatini, Salasai, State of Grace, Stitch Ministry,
Twentysevennames, WeSC, Worldwear and Zara’s Vintage Yard
Sale.
They will be joined by newcomers BLAK, Bettie
Monroe, Chalkboard Agencies, Crowded Elevator, CXC, DMONIC
INTENT, Franco Bombana, Jetset Bohemian, Jewels Galore, Oyl,
Matchi Motchi, Stichbury, Riddle Me This, Sarah Riley, Sisi,
Souley and Tutu.
Both womenswear and menswear is represented at the sale – with a wide range of sizes along with those desirable one-off samples.

New
Zealand Fashion Weekend visitors will also be able to
attend the PWC New Generation Show featuring designers that
are making their mark - Riddle Me This, Maaike, Kathryn Leah
Payne and Celine Rita. Visitors will also have access to the
Sera Lilly show and the inaugural New Zealand Weddings
Magazine Bridal Collection show (featuring Anna Shimmel,
Crane Brothers, Jane Yeh, Kate Dowman, Louise Anderson,
Modes, John Zimmerman and Vinka Brides). Entry to the IBM
Designer Selection Shows is not included in the ticket to
Fashion Weekend.
ABSOLUT VODKA will be wowing guests at
the ABSOLUT STUDIO where there will be cocktail classes on
Saturday afternoon for those keen to learn the ropes,
otherwise the bartenders will be assembling designer
cocktails inspired by leading New Zealand designers for
visitors to enjoy while watching the highlights from the
week’s shows on the big screen.
In between all the action the Moet and Chandon Lounge and Fashion Plate Restaurant will be the places to chill out in style, and the weekend will be a feast for all the senses – there will also be a line-up of well-known and up-and-coming bands including Sola Rosa, Radio Glo and Ruby Frost to keep visitors entertained on Friday night and throughout Saturday.
This year the demand from the consumer is so
high that in addition to Friday evening and Saturday day the
New Zealand Herald Designer Garage Sale will also be open
between 10am and 2pm on Sunday 26th September. Entry to the
Sale on Sunday is free, however all other features of the
Fashion Weekend will come to a close on Saturday night.
New Zealand Herald Designer Garage Sale organiser
Jill Blomfield says she’s absolutely delighted with how
the Designer Garage Sale is looking. “We’ve had so much
interest this year and this resulted in all the boutiques
being filled faster than we expected. Many of the designers
have already released sneak peeks and the deals they’ll be
offering are absolutely incredible.”
Features of the
sale include changing rooms on each designer ‘boutique’,
designer’s own representatives manning the stands and
central check-outs which accept eftpos, cash or credit
cards.
“It’s going to be a hub of activity during those three days – everyone is thrilled about what’s in store,” says Jill.
“If you love fashion, this is the
sale you shouldn’t miss.”
