A Very Queer Beauty Pageant

MEDIA RELEASE: Immediate Release Permitted

Eventimento & QWU Charitable Trust presents

Queen of the Whole Universe - A VERY QUEER BEAUTY PAGEANT

Their swimsuit category really packs an extra punch!

Tickets are in such hot demand for the 7th annual performance of Queen of the Whole Universe that the ‘stalls’ all but sold out in 5 days – 6 months prior to the event!

“… charmingly choreographed and brazenly glamorous night to remember” – GayNZ.Com

The show is based on a beauty pageant but it is definitely a pageant with a difference! Most of the cast are boys dressed as ‘girls’, the 45 contestants represent 43 countries and 2 planets, and all with one mission to receive the coveted crown at the end of the night.

Since the shows inception in 2004 QWU© has raised over $145,000 for HIV/AIDS causes in New Zealand while entertaining audiences from all over New Zealand and Overseas in what has become a truly must-see-event in Auckland and now Wellington.

The ensemble of competition ‘girls’ and their entourage of ‘leather men’, that bring The Queen of the Whole Universe to theatrical life are not chosen for their drag experience, instead organisers look for those with the right attitude and the special something needed to rehearse, create and perform in this demanding showcase. Not all of the cast are boys dressed as girls – young, old, gay, straight and even women compete for the crown.

The cast are rewarded by an enthusiastic audience whose night of entertainment carries on long after the curtain falls at the after party and function extraordinaire…all in support of a worthy charity.
