Ninjas invade Tauranga
Silent, stealthy and faster than lightening, ninjas are the ultimate secret weapon. And if you hadn’t noticed, they’ve been steadily appearing in schools all over the greater Tauranga area!
But don’t be alarmed – they’re in training for Tauranga’s first ever Ninja Tag Tournament being hosted by the YMCA Tauranga this Saturday, September 28th, at Tauranga Boys’ College.
After School Care Coordinator Tamati Cameron explains “We’ve been playing Ninja Tag in our centres for months now and the kids just love it! So we thought it would be awesome to put on a tournament to engage more kids.” Cameron has visited almost a dozen schools over the past three weeks to teach the latest craze to kids during their lunch breaks.
Ninja tag is an innovative new game that any kid (of any age!) can play. It develops body awareness, gross motor skills and encourages strategic thinking. It is an easy game to learn and everyone is encouraged to participate. The tournament will see ninjas aged five to 13 in the gym at Tauranga Boys’ College this Saturday 28th September from 1:00 p.m. (registration starts at 12:30 p.m.) until the last ninja is standing and earns the title of Tauranga Ninja Sensei! Entry is only $2.
