More sports options available on television

New Zealand may have blitzed Vanuatu 14-0 in the first game in the OFC Women’s Nations Cup, but they have a way to go to take out the final on October 8.

For fans unable to be at North Harbour Stadium for the semis and the final, Triangle and Stratos Television is going to show the action the following week. The sister channels have a deal to screen OFC games and now the women’s cup tournament.

The semi final will screen on Wednesday October 13 on Triangle at 7.30pm and on Stratos at 8.30pm. The final will screen on Sunday October 17 on Stratos at 1.30pm and on Triangle at 10pm.

Meanwhile, rugby fans and players who keep an eye on up and coming talent will be able to watch Canterbury’s top players battles that took place during the winter season on Triangle Television from October 10.

Schools like St Bede’s, Christchurch Boys, Christ College and Marlborough Boys have had a history of feeding top players through to Canterbury representative teams. A look at this year’s New Zealand Under-20 team shows it was captained by Tyler Bleyendaal from Canterbury and he had three other Canterbury mates with him including Luke Whitelock, Telusa Veainu and Paul Ngauamo.

The spies at Mt Albert Grammar, Kings College and Whangarei Boys High School, not to mention the players’ contemporaries at top secondary schools outside Canterbury and Nelson-Bays are likely to tune in to size up the opposition.
