Creative NZ contestable funding guide now online

Creative New Zealand contestable funding guide now available online

The annual guide on how to apply for Creative New Zealand contestable funding is now available from our website.

In 2009/10 we invested $33.7 million in the arts, an increase of $800,000 on the previous year, through a variety of grants and investment programmes. These programmes are detailed in the 2011 Contestable Funding Guide Ngā Pūtea.

New to this year’s guide is the Arts Development Investment (Toi Uru Kahikatea) programme, which complements the new Arts Leadership Investment (Toi Tōtara Haemata) programme. These programmes replace the contestable Arts Investment and Sector Investment programmes and the programme for recurrently funded organisations.

The guide also introduces the new artform category of Media arts, which supports the development of moving-image and media artistic practices using digital or analogue technologies within screen-based, electronic, internet or mobile phone domains.

The Film artform category is now covered under Media arts. Documentary or archival film projects can still be supported if they focus on a particular artform or artist.

From 2011 applicants for contestable funding can apply for no more than four Arts and Quick Response Grants within a calendar year. No more than two applications can be submitted in each funding round.

To receive funding, projects must closely match specific criteria, show strong artistic merit and demonstrate how they will help achieve Creative New Zealand’s strategic outcomes for the arts.

This comprehensive guide to applying for funding for arts projects is published annually. It is available as a printed booklet by email or phone 04 473 0880; or as a downloadable PDF from the Creative New Zealand website at www.creativenz.govt.nz.
