Steve Lowe to join Fairfax Magazines
Steve Lowe will take up a new role at Fairfax Magazines this month managing the specialist portfolio of publications. He will be looking after a broad range of market leading titles including NZ Fishing News, Boating NZ, NZ Trucking, NZ Fish & Game, NZ Horse & Pony, NZ Lifestyle Block, NZ Autocar and The Cut.
With an extensive background in media, communication and entertainment industries, Steve is no stranger to the world of magazines. He has held senior roles with ACP, NZ Magazines and Gordon & Gotch. Most recently he has worked as General Manager for DAI Rubicon.
Lynley Belton, General Manager Fairfax Magazines, says she is delighted to welcome someone of Steve’s calibre to the role. “It’s great to be able to attract Steve back to magazines. He has a strong mix of strategic skills, project leadership experience, strong media knowledge and industry credibility and that makes him an ideal fit for the role. Under Steve’s leadership, we know our specialist magazine portfolio will continue to deliver great content that engages our readers and provides quality environments for our advertisers.
Steve Lowe takes over from industry stalwart, Tim Porter, who is moving south to a new role within Fairfax Media as Regional Manager for the Southland Times based in Wanaka. Tim will continue to be actively involved with Fairfax Magazines as a publishing consultant alongside his new role.
Ms Belton says she is equally delighted that Tim will continue to make a significant contribution to Fairfax Magazines, particularly on the marine titles. “Tim has been an outstanding member of our team for over ten years. This new arrangement provides a great balance of continuity, knowledge and fresh thinking that works for the business, while giving Tim the opportunity to take up new challenges”, she says.
Steve commences at Fairfax Magazines on 7 February. Tim Porter takes up his new post at the Southland Times by mid March.
