Art Deco Photography Competition
Art Deco Photography Competition
The Art Deco Trust and Photographers Gallery Hawke’s Bay have come together to search for the best photograph taken over the Art Deco Weekend.
Sally Jackson, General Manager of the Art Deco Trust reported that they are running a photo competition that would highlight some fantastic action that happens in the city over the world renowned GEON Art Deco Weekend. She said “We are looking for someone to capture the essence of the Weekend on camera, and we are so looking forward to seeing the images coming through”.
The two organisations are seeking the best photograph that reveals the city and its people, at its best, over the Art Deco Weekend.
The winner for the competition will receive a prize package valued at $1000 donated by the Art Deco Trust and Photographers Gallery Hawke’s Bay and the top 12 entries will form an exhibition at the Photographers Gallery in February 2012.
Shayne Jeffares, owner of the Photographers Gallery Hawke’s Bay said he was really excited about being involved in this year’s event and establishing this competition with the Trust. “There are thousands of people out on the street taking photos over the weekend, we want to capture some of these images and show them to the world”. He added, “Not many people have the opportunity to exhibit their photographs, if we can give someone that chance then we are over the moon”
Winners of this competition will also be considered for the 2012 Art Deco calendar and will receive a 10 x 8 inch portrait of their photograph.
Entries forms can be collected at the Gallery and entries close on 25 February 2011 are can be sent to gallery[at]pghb.co.nz or can be dropped in to either the Art Deco Trust at 163 Tennyson Street or the Photographers Gallery Hawke’s Bay at 138 Tennyson Street, Napier.
