In VOICE and Music at Wallace Art Centre

Outstanding Australian performance poet Randall Stephens will lead the line-up for the first of the TSB Bank Wallace Art Centre’s live performance days In VOICE and Music starting Saturday, February 19. Stephens is a dynamic and experience performer currently touring New Zealand.

Visitors on the day can expect to become part of the art as it happens, because it may be hard to distinguish the gallery’s sculptures from some of the other performers.

Poetic-kinetic-sculpture improvisational troupe The White Wall will be responding to the gallery space, art, people and nature, “and that means urban nature, green nature or human nature,” says dancer Siri Embla of The White Wall. "We relate - we make connections –stories, poems, sculpture … in a moment. We breathe - we are still - we move - we keep moving. "

The first of the monthly live In VOICE and Music performance days kicks off with a special appearance from the AUT Dance Company and a line-up of poets and musicians on Saturday, February 19, 2-4 PM at Auckland’s beautiful new art gallery in Hillsborough Road.

Poets include Gus Simonovic, Kirsten Warner from the Printable Reality spoken word group which is hosting the series. They will be joined by Christian Jensen from The Literatti poetic theatre group (performing at the Auckland Fringe Festival), Jeremy Roberts and Simone Kaho. Musicians are Lawrence Brock, Kara James Gordon and Gareth Price.

In 2011, spoken word specialists Printable Reality brings a selection of poetry and music to the TSB Wallace Art Centre. Monthly events will include distinguished poets and musicians and other spoken word artists.
