Capturing New Zealand’s Most Inspiring Stories
New Dunedin-based charity, The Inspiring Stories Trust, aims to spark the production of a series of inspirational short films across the country by connecting young filmmakers up with young people making a difference in their communities.
Beginning March 1st, the Inspiring Stories team will embark on a 15-week nationwide road trip to host a series of workshops for young New Zealanders. The two-day intensive workshops connect young filmmakers with young changemakers, as well as mentors from the film industry to support their short film productions.
The
workshops are open for energetic young Kiwi’s aged 13-26,
and the Trust is now calling for applications from young
filmmakers, changemakers, as well as industry professionals
interested in volunteering in their region. Applications can
be made online through the Inspiring Stories Trust website
– www.inspiringstories.org.nz
The project is being headed by
award-winning young filmmaker and CEO of the Trust Guy Ryan,
and is possible due to support from the Vodafone NZ
Foundation’s 2011 World of Difference Programme.
“Whether it’s kick-starting the community garden,
helping the elderly, or cleaning up the local beach –
there’s loads of young Kiwi’s out there making a
difference, and loads of great stories to be told,” says
Ryan.
Beyond the Inspiring Stories core team, the 15-week nationwide road trip is happening in collaboration with the Regeneration Trust – a national network of young New Zealanders who are working to create positive change in their schools, workplaces, and communities.
