Denny Stanway and The Jimmies’ AOTNZ South Island Tour

For immediate release

Denny Stanway and The Jimmies’ AOTNZ South Island Tour
8 March –15 April 2011

Celtic and country singer Denny Stanway has earned a place in New Zealand’s creative landscape. Well known for her wonderful voice and evocative arrangements, Denny fronted the mid 80s Auckland band Acoustic Confusion, was resident vocalist on weekly TV show, That’s Country, supported Don Mclean in concert, sang at Womad festivals in Adelaide and New Plymouth, won the guitar at Gore and has been a guest artist at the Christchurch International Jazz Festival. After nearly 25 years with Celtic Collective, Rua, Denny teams up with master musicians The Jimmies – master guitarist James Wilkinson and the wonderful Jimmy Young on pipes, flute and percussion – for a South Island tour with Arts On Tour NZ. (Itinerary below)

The Jimmies have just returned from a small tour of Scotland playing various venues and festivals and will return there in November for another tour. Their new CD Can’t Find Our way Home is being premiered in NZ on this tour.

An Intimate Evening with Denny Stanway and The Jimmies will transport songs and stories from the highlands of Scotland to the heartland of New Zealand. With songs of separation, immigration, family, love and loss, this promises to be a great Celtic event
