World Premiere At Australasia's Premiere Doco Festival

Documentary Edge Festival 2011 presents the world premiere of

OUT OF THE DARKNESS - a documentary by Stefano Levi

The remarkable story of a surgical team travelling to remote parts of Nepal to bring the needlessly blind Out Of The Darkness will make it's world premiere at this year's Documentary Edge Festival.

The directorial debut of German film-maker/photographer Stefano Levi, Out of the Darkness follows Nepal's Dr. Sanduk Ruit and his American colleague Dr. Geoff Tabin as they travel with an entire hospital on their porter's back to provide low cost procedure to restore eyesight.

The Director accompanies the men as they humbly go about bringing hope and light to those who don't have any in the most difficult of conditions.

Festival Director, Dan Shanan, says 'We are proud to hold the world premiere of this inspiring and illuminating look at the work of two dedicated medical humanitarians. We hope Levi's film will reach wide audiences and motivate them to support their mission.'

Stefano Levi will be in New Zealand for the world premiere to be held on Saturday February 26th, Event Cinemas Newmarket at 6:15pm. A Question & Answer session with Levi will follow the screening.

Additional screenings will be held on the same day at 12.15pm as well as March 4th 5:30pm.

Wellington screenings begin on March 10th at City Gallery Wellington (2pm) and then moving to the Angelika at Reading Cinemas Courtenay on March 19th (12:15pm) and March 25th (5:30pm)
