NZAFA announces summer art show

WELLINGTON – The New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts, a self-funding gallery dedicated to the visual arts, announces Then, Now, When: the first membership show of the year. The exhibition poses questions about New Zealand identity through its history of art alongside guest artists John Rundle, Raewyn Turner and Mark Bellringer.

The exhibition will open to the public with an artist talk on Saturday, February 26 at 10:30 a.m. During this talk, the public can meet two of the gallery’s guest artists, Rundle and Turner, as they discuss their work as a whole and pieces in Then, Now, When.

“Many of us enjoy talking or reading about the history of New Zealand art, but forget how each new exhibition adds to our rich history. Now is your chance to visit the Academy to share your thoughts and partake in the experience of being involved in art today. This show brings together the wonderful watercolour works of John Rundle a never before exhibited work from John Drawbridge (with documentary) the stunning photographs of Mark Bellringer and a multi sensory work developed in collaboration between guest artist Raewyn Turner and Diana Burgoyne,” said Gallery Director, Justin Morgan.

Then, Now, When runs from February 26-March 20, 2011. Gallery doors are open daily from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission is free.
