Festival of Colour Tickets on Sale

LAKE WANAKA, New Zealand (February 22, 2011) – Festival of Colour tickets went on sale this week with demand expected to be high for the six days of inspiring performances from local, national and international acts together with shows from some of New Zealand’s pre-eminent writers and artists.

This hugely popular celebration of the arts promises to once again be a sell out with two extra performances already added to a packed programme following strong advanced ticket sales.

“Ticket sales have been unprecedented,” said festival director Philip Tremewan. “The demand was so huge on the first day of public sales that it brought the system down temporarily but everything is now running smoothly and we’re looking forward to bringing another successful festival to the Southern Lakes.”

Festival-goers will enjoy a diverse programme that ranges over theatre, dance, art, aspiring conversations and music from classical to jazz – including two theatre world premieres. Throughout the Festival the theme of colour and environment prevails making the most of the surrounding vibrant autumnal colours and dramatic landscape.

The touring programme takes the Festival throughout the Southern Lakes region with shows in Queenstown, Luggate, Hawea, Cromwell and Glenorchy while the Schoolfest programme sees artists and performers visiting local schools.

This cultural feast for the senses runs over six days and five nights (12-17 April 2011) and is a must for anyone wanting to enjoy the arts against the stunning alpine backdrop of Lake Wanaka in the autumn. For more information on the Festival of Colour programme visit www.festivalofcolour.co.nz. Tickets can be purchased by calling 03 443 4162 or 4172 or in person at the Lake Wanaka Centre box office. Queenstown and Glenorchy tickets can be bought from Queenstown iSITE.
