It’s A Family Affair As Hunting Aotearoa Returns

It’s time to go bush again! HUNTING AOTEAROA is back for a seventh season, with larger-than-life presenter and entertainer Howie Morrison jnr (son of Sir Howard) accompanying hunters from all over New Zealand as they take us on thrilling rides pursuing deer, pigs, bulls, turkeys and other game.

Morrison says this series reflects his belief that whole whanau are increasingly going hunting together, with kids learning the ropes at ever-earlier ages. “I’m seeing a lot of families, and boys as well as girls, going out hunting together. I think they love being out there in the weekend and hanging out with mum and dad and bringing home the bacon.”

Much of the trend is driven by economic need, “but it’s also good education for the young – for a lot of people, food is fast food or takeaways. For an increasing number of rangatahi, it’s about grabbing a dog, and a motorbike or a horse, and coming back with a pig.”

You’ll meet some of these families on the stunningly successful HUNTING AOTEAROA, New Zealand’s only television show for hunting and shooting fans. The show is in English and Maori, with all Maori subtitled.

In this new series, Morrison travels from Blenheim to Mangotane and Waimate to Tokomaru Bay in the adrenalin-pumping pursuit of game. In the first episode, he revisits his old mate Kupu Lloyd in Arowhana for a bull hunt – and given that wild cattle are considered the most dangerous animals in New Zealand, expect an action-packed hunt. HUNTING AOTEAROA also goes overseas to checks out the hunting action in Samoa, Hawai’i and northern Queensland.
