Family of Sponsors reunites for Winter Festival 2011
Major sponsors of the Southern
Hemisphere’s biggest winter party, the
American Express
Queenstown Winter Festival, have wasted no time signing
up
for more winter fun in support of 2011 celebrations,
and have in fact given
their full backing for the event
until 2013.
American Express again throws its impressive
weight behind the event as
title sponsor of the ten-day
Festival while Air New Zealand, Pernod Ricard,
NZSki and
Mediaworks will bring their own flavours to the party as
platinum
sponsors.
Sponsorship is rounded out by almost
30 gold, silver and bronze sponsorship
partners from New
Zealand businesses, local partners such as
Skyline,
SkyCity and Lakes Leisure along with community
funding organizations.
Queenstown Winter Festival Director
Simon Green said he was delighted to
welcome back the
family of sponsors.
“This ‘thumbs up’ from major
companies gives us the financial stability to
move
forward with strategic planning and long term development of
the
Festival. It reaffirms the value of festival to
Queenstown, to New Zealand
and to the companies that are
willing to invest their money, time and
energy,” he
said.
“2011 is a busy year for New Zealand events in a
difficult economic climate.
These are major brands
committed to Festival and Queenstown. This gives
great
credibility to Festival as an event that successfully
delivers for the
local community as well as its
visitors.”
Mr Green said that while the ‘family of
sponsors’ was a casual term, in fact
several companies
had found ways to work together maximizing
their
involvement and now enjoyed close and beneficial
business partnerships.
American Express Director of New
Zealand partnerships, Peter Newton, said
getting behind a
major event such as the American Express Queenstown
Winter
Festival offers a myriad of opportunities for
businesses.
“For example, Air New Zealand and American
Express have worked together and
with the Festival for
many years. Last year we celebrated the launch of the
Air
New Zealand American Express Platinum Card in Queenstown
during Festival
with great success,” he said.
Now in
its 37th year, the 2011 American Express Queenstown Winter
Festival
promises a whimsical winter wonderland with a
programme of new events, old
favourites and plenty of
entertainment and celebration on offer.
The American
Express Queenstown Winter Festival opens on Friday 24 June
and
runs until Sunday 3 July. More than 40,000 people
are expected to attend
events injecting an estimated
$50million into the local economy.
