Trelise Cooper’s Retro Roamer Up For Auction

The coolest caravan in New Zealand is up for grabs, with all proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Research Trust.

After much admiration throughout the summer while it has been on display at various Holiday Parks nationwide, the Trelise Cooper-designed caravan will be auctioned via a tender process running from 3 to 31 March 2011.

The customised caravan will be on show this week at:
Wednesday 16 March, Trelise Cooper Boutique 536 Parnell Rd 11am – 3pm
Friday 18 March, Trelise Cooper Fabric Store, 479 Parnell Road 11am – 3pm

People will have the opportunity to come and and view the caravan and sign its visitor’s book, as well as buy a raffle ticket to be into win a $500 Trelise Cooper clothing voucher.

The caravan is up for tender until 31 March. The tender document can be found at www.breastcancercure.org.nz, but will also be available at the caravan next week.

“The caravan is part of our Kiwi history and is an iconic element of the NZ summer holiday. This travelling time capsule will be an investment, a fun asset to your family’s history and will aid breast cancer research,” says Tony Moffatt, CEO of the Breast Cancer Cure Research Trust.

The interior and exterior of the single-axle caravan were designed by fashion icon Trelise Cooper, Patron of the Breast Cancer Research Trust, which hopes to find a cure for breast cancer by 2018.The renovations were undertaken free of charge by West Auckland’s Moselle Panel and Paint who has also had a long-standing relationship with the charity.

The retro, mint-green, polka-dotted caravan features a flower box on the back and a red bike from the era attached to the front.

“Placing a bid on this iconic piece will mean joining the fight to find a cure for breast cancer,” says Moffatt. “New Zealand has one of the highest rates of breast cancer in the world, so a cure has never been more needed.”
