Dynamic Spirit of Youth
A Hindu Youth New Zealand and Hindu Students Forum New Zealand Event

Young achievers of New Zealand will meet at the 2nd National Hindu Youth Conference that will be held on the 7th and 8th May at the University of Auckland Business School.

A young line-up of speakers will share their success stories to exemplify the dynamism of the youth of today. These speakers will speak on the challenges they faced in their journey and how THINKING BIG inspired and empowered them!

Speakers include:

Claire Szabo – the Chief Executive of English Language Partners New Zealand (ELP), an organisation that works with migrants and refugees. Operating in 23 locations throughout NZ, the ELP delivers English language tuition and settlement support to refugees and migrants. Claire was recently recognised as Central Region Young Executive of the Year Award Winner 2010 and then went on to win the Young Executive of the Year 2010.

Dr Divya Dhar – CEO of P3 Foundation, an organisation with the vision to mobilise young people to break the poverty cycle. The P3 Foundation works on poverty within New Zealand and also overseas. Divya was awarded inaugural Young New Zealander of the Year, 2010.

“It sounded ambitious when we planned this guest list but I found the young and successful very humble and friendly in their response. This only shows the spirit of young New Zealanders’ willing to interact with other people and share their continuing journeys to successes” said Nitika Sharma, coordinator of the 2nd Hindu Youth conference.

Nitika herself was a speaker at the recent Futures Evening event at the University of Auckland, an evening where young role models from various careers speak to year 12 and 13 students from around North Island.

Other topics for discussion over the two days are: How to improve IQ, the ability to focus and concentrate, and energy levels. The inclusive point of view of Hindu Dharma, whose ideal is Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam (the world is one family), will underlie most of these discussions. In this backdrop, the conference will also discuss the role of women in society and the Hindu concept of Sewa (service) to community and society. Government agencies including representatives from the Ministry of Social Development, New Zealand Police and Child Youth and Family have been invited.

Saturday evening will conclude with a social quiz and dinner night, aptly titled “HINDU GENIUS”. The quiz will consist of five rounds on the following topics: NZ culture and History; Sports and entertainment; Science and Technology; Hindu Dharma; and General Knowledge & current Affairs
The quiz will be conducted by Anantha Narayan, 4th year Medical Student at the Otago University.

Concurrent to the two day conference will run an Arts Exhibition providing young artists to display their work. Spaces are still available if you would like to display your art.

Hindu Youth team members from Otago, Wellington and Rotorua are coordinating registrations and events for this our National conference in Auckland.
Hindu Youth of New Zealand and New Zealand Hindu Students Forum provide a platform for youth to grow and explore their leadership potential. This conference is a part of implementation of the vision. We welcome those who are interested in learning about our past activities and being part of future plans.
