April News Two: Family Cactus, David Kilgour etc
Hi there,
It's not Arch Hill - but we'd like to
congratulate Ladi6 for winning the Taite Music
Prize - 2011...well deserved. Our own Street Chant (for
"Means") were in the running but it was a pretty strong line
up with Dudley Benson, Die Die Die, Julia Deans, The Naked
and Famous, The Phoenix Foundation and Connan Mockasin.
A
few people have been having problems with our online store -
which we agree is a bit rusty around the edges...so we are
in the process of setting up a new improved
version over here...not everything is on there but we
are loading it all up
As usual we are keeping busy on FACEBOOK,
TWITTER
and YOUTUBE so if you want to know what's up
head on over.
Family Cactus to Release Spirit Lights on Arch Hill
We are super pleased to announce that Wellington six piece Family Cactus will release their second album "Spirit Lights" on 30th of May on Arch Hill.

The album was recorded at Roundhead Studios in Auckland and the Surgery in Wellington. It was then mastered in New York at Stirling Sounds by Greg Calbi late 2010 while the band were based there for several months.

We will tell you more about the album closer to the release date, but in the meantime you can download the first single "Fields and Fields" for FREE over here.
You can also watch the video for Fields and Fields, which was performed, recorded and filmed completely live at the historic and dilapidated Erskine College. The band completed as series of performances there with Bryson Rooney which you will get to see very soon. There is also an official music video for the song in the works and ready soon.
To celebrate the release of the album the Family Cactus will play the following shows, preceding a national tour¨
28th of May - The Kings Arms - Auckland¨
3rd of

Ghost
Wave - EP Out Now
In early 2010, when Ghost Wave

Eammon Logan (drums) were flatting together and laying down
the bones of the recordings. They were using a mix of
instruments and a sampler. One day, when they were out, some
