More success in the US for PureBlack Racing
More success in the US as PureBlack Racing’s Louis Crosby wins U23 jersey and team secures second overall
AUCKLAND, New Zealand, 9 May, 2011 – After four days of aggressive riding in the Joe Martin Stage Race in Arkansas, PureBlack Racing has been rewarded with second overall in the team General Classification. After today’s 90 minute Criterium, the final stage, Louis Crosby walked away with the white U23 overall leader jersey in his debut professional race. Mike Northey crossed the line fifth in the Criterium today to secure fourth overall in the individual General Classification.
Carl Williams, Sports Director of PureBlack Racing said, “We’re one of the few brand new teams in this league so to get a second overall in the team General Classification behind BISSELL Pro Cycling is a massive achievement. And, for Louis Crosby to get a podium finish yesterday in his first pro cycling race is an outstanding result and he topped that off with the U23 jersey today. Mike Northey’s impressive individual performance of fourth overall in General Classification is also our best individual GC placing to date. So to say we’re proud of the team seems like an understatement.”
Greg Cross, Business Director of PureBlack Racing said, “The boys have really put in an impressive performance over the past four days and have some excellent results to show for that. The results are a clear demonstration that the team has stepped up to the next level of competition and is achieving better and better results as the season progresses. We’re generating some real buzz around the team. PureBlack Racing has just been invited to the Tour of Utah, one the biggest races in the US, as a result of our performance not only this weekend, but for the season to date.”
