The Motat Arcade – Are You Game?

MEDIA RELEASE
16 MAY 2011

The Motat Arcade – Are You Game?

MOTAT is offering gaming enthusiasts of all ages the chance to step back in time to the golden age of arcade entertainment with the EB Games @ Play Zone available at MOTAT until 31 May.

Think Pac Man, Space Invaders, Donkey Kong, Sonic the Hedgehog and other arcade classics from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.

Tony O’Sullivan, Museum Experience Coordinator at MOTAT, says this high energy exhibition is getting the young and old excited to get their game face on.

“Not only can kids play their favourite modern video games, but they can test their skills on the retro games from mum and dad’s era, and see what kept them entertained as kids.

“They will love playing the older, simpler arcade games and noticing how much the gaming industry has developed over time,” says Mr O’Sullivan.

There is also riveting modern games from Nintendo and Sega to ease the time warp transition. Video game enthusiasts can put their skills to the test on the high definition XBOX 360 or get physical with a game of tennis on the Nintendo WII.

“Playing the old games takes our visitors back to a place in time, much like listening to old songs. It’s also amazing to watch youngsters play the retro games – they suddenly get what their dads and granddads have been raving about,” says Mr O’Sullivan.
