Melissa Moon Supports Sick Kids at Wellington Children's Hospital
Iconic Wellington athlete Melissa Moon will be defending her 2010 title in the Taipei 101 Run-Up this Sunday, 5th June.
The Taipei 101 Run-Up is a race up a 391 metre vertical climb (2,048 steps) up the world’s second building in Taiwan, which Melissa conquered last year in 14 minutes and 16 seconds.
Wellington Hospitals and Health Foundation, official charity of Wellington Children’s Hospital, hopes to raise $1 for Wellington Children's Hospital for each of the 2,048 steps that Melissa will be climbing.
"It is a challenge to get to the top of the building but it brings you a feeling of such accomplishment and achievement knowing you have pushed those physical and mental boundaries” says Melissa. “Sick children are always having to dig deep to get through another day and this is a great way to help them do that".
There are more than 27,000 visits to Wellington Children's Hospital every year by sick kids and funds raised through this appeal will make a real difference to their lives.
Bill Day, Chair of Wellington Hospitals and Health Foundation, is wrapt with Melissa’s support. “Melissa is a really neat person, and a great athlete. We are thrilled to have her support the Foundation as an Ambassador” said Mr Day.
