NZNTM Leads Top Rating Friday For TV3

Cycle Three of hit TV3 reality show New Zealand's Next Top Model was the lynch pin of a top-rating night on 3 when it launched on Friday 10 June.

3's strong performance saw the channel win the night with a 26% share in the 25-54 demographic, with big audiences for The Graham Norton Show, After Hours with Jared Christmas, and The Jono Project.

Episode one of Top Model, which revealed the show's Top 13 contestants, generated a social media storm. NZNTM was the number one trending topic in New Zealand on Friday and Saturday, and the number three trending topic worldwide.

By Wednesday morning, the programme had already been viewed online by 24,000 people, making it 3's number one Video On Demand show.

On air, Cycle Three of NZNTM grew its audience in all the key demographics compared with the first episode of Cycle Two (2010). In the 25-54 demographic, the audience grew from a 9.6 rating in 2010 to 9.8, while the 18-49 audience grew by an impressive 10% (from 9.1 in 2010 to 10.0). The female-skew show rated 12.0 in the Females 18-49 demographic (compared with 11.6 in 2010).

MediaWorks Director of Programming Kelly Martin says she is delighted with the series' launch.

"The response to episode one has been fantastic, both in terms of ratings and the wider audience. This year's contestants have instantly caught the viewers' imaginations, and it's great to see Sara, Chris and Colin welcomed back to the small screen with such enthusiasm.

"With perennially popular 7 Days back on air this Friday at 9.30pm, and the NZNTM makeover episode kicking the evening's entertainment off, viewers can look forward to another big night on 3."
