HUTTON TO JOIN MARR AT BIG CIK MEETING IN MELBOURNE THIS WEEKEND
Aucklander Arie Hutton is the latest Kiwi karter to cross the Tasman to compete, the 16-year-old three-time New Zealand Sprint Kart class champion joining Wanganui 15-year-old Aaron Marr on the entry list for the third round of this year's CIK Stars of Karting series at Melbourne's Todd Rd circuit over the weekend.
Hutton, who won the New Zealand Cadet class title in 2005, the New Zealand 100cc Junior Restricted Yamaha class title in 2007 and the New Zealand Formula Junior one in 2009 will contest the premier Prolight/KF1 class in a Super Freight-backed IAME-engined Tony Kart on Dunlop tyres.
Marr, meanwhile, will contest the KF3 class where he currently lies in seventh place after completing the two rounds held so far this year, the first at Ipswich in Queensland in February where he finished sixth in class, and the second - where he finished seventh - at Bolivar in South Australia in April.
This year's CIK Stars of Karting series presented by Castrol Edge is the strongest held in Australia in a number of years with over 80 competitors contesting the three core CIK classes (Pro Light/KF1, KZ2 and KF3) and another 50 competing in the two support classes, Clubman and Junior National.
Wantima, Victoria driver Jake Spencer currently leads Grant Smith and Cian Fothergill in the Pro Light/KF1 points standings while Kel Treseder from Bundaberg in northern Queensland leads Tyler Westbury and Matthew Wall in KZ2 and 15-year-old Sydney driver Pierce Lehane heads Jake Klarich and Joseph Mawson in KF3.
