New Presenter Joins HAA Team

Maori Television’s flagship in-house rangatahi lifestyle show HAA welcomes the newest addition to this year’s presenting team.

Twenty-three-year-old Te Uira Paki joins the HAA team this month and is working alongside her younger brother Poutama Paki (21), who also joined the show this year with seasoned presenters Amanda Ashton and Junior Paparoa.

Te Uira, who lives in Taupo, takes over where former presenter Taupunakohe Tocker left off and is pleased to be joining her little brother on screen with HAA.

Te Uira is no stranger to the small screen, having been involved in presenting for television shows since she was 11 when she was on children’s programme Tikitiki for five years and Koi when she was 16.

She is enjoying working on HAA, especially getting to work alongside her younger brother.

“I love it! We know each other so well and we can bounce ideas off each other and critique each other’s performance – give honest feedback. He keeps me grounded too,” she says.

The 2011 series of HAA is well underway and from next Monday, 4 July, also moves to the new timeslot of 6.30PM as part of the restructuring of news service TE KAEA which starts broadcasting live at its new 5.30PM time next week also.

The new time is to take in the extra TE KAEA bulletin but HAA producer Wiremu Te Kiri is looking forward to the new arrangement and welcomes new presenter Te Uira to the HAA team.
