Christchurch to hold the NZ Premiere of Harry Potter

Christchurch to hold the NZ Premiere of Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2!

Christchurch has been awarded with the first NZ screening of the much anticipated final Harry Potter film, which will be held on Tuesday 12th July at Hoyts Cinemas in Riccarton, Roadshow Film Distributors announced today.

Christchurch won a nationwide competition on radio station ZM to host the prestigious event, with Nikita Browning casting the winning registration for her city.

Listeners were given the opportunity to enter to win one of 7 VIP screenings of the film in their town.

“There has been an overwhelming demand for tickets to the final instalment of the Harry Potter film series” said Roadshow Film Distributor Marketing Manager, Hayley Botes.

“It would be hard to think of a more deserving city than Christchurch to hold the NZ Premiere, and we look forward to bring the red carpet treatment to them.”

Fans are now encouraged to listen to ZM for their chance to win tickets to all 7 of the announced locations.

Congratulations also go out to Carein Chan from Hamilton, Greta Young in Dunedin, Lilly Curtis in Napier, Larissa Bray from New Plymouth, Aaron Grey in Auckland and Nick Hogan in Wellington who have all won VIP Previews for their city in the competition.

Heading the cast, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson reprise their roles as Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.

The ensemble cast also includes Helena Bonham Carter, Jim Broadbent, Robbie Coltrane, Warwick Davis, Tom Felton, Ralph Fiennes, Michael Gambon, Ciarán Hinds, John Hurt, Jason Isaacs, Matthew Lewis, Gary Oldman, Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, David Thewlis, Emma Thompson, Julie Walters and Bonnie Wright.

The film is directed by David Yates and produced by David Heyman, David Barron and J.K. Rowling. Screenwriter Steve Kloves adapted the screenplay, based on the book by Rowling. Lionel Wigram is the executive producer.

Warner Bros. Pictures presents a Heyday Films production, ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2’, which marks the last installment in the most successful film franchise of all time.
