Call
for Māori Language Award entries
Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori calls for entries to the Māori Language Awards.
Categories include; Private sector; Community; Local government; Government; Broadcasting – Mainstream; Broadcasting – Māori Media; Print; IT and Telecommunications; Education – Mainstream; Education – Māori Medium; Tertiary; Māori Language Week.
Over the years the awards platform has been enhanced to more effectively acknowledge an array of efforts for the language. So whether your organisation is a relatively new inductee to the world of te reo Māori, or a seasoned battler, provision has been made within the awards format to ensure an extensive range of contributions recognised.
“We know that with a theme like Manaakitanga, organisations and schools are undertaking many innovative initiatives to celebrate Māori language this year. The Māori Language Awards is the forum to have those projects acknowledged” says Chief Executive, Glenis Philip-Barbara.
“While the awards evening provides an opportunity to celebrate Māori language success across the motu – it also serves as a forum where Māori language advocates and enthusiasts can meet, exchange ideas, discuss issues and establish support networks for one another. This is especially important when you consider coordination and cross promotion of success is an area of development across the Māori language sector” says Glenis Philip Barbara.
The awards event will be held at the Rotorua Energy Events Centre on the evening of 18 November. The closing date for applications is 12 August, absolutely no extensions this year. Finalists will be announced no later than 23 September.
