Reuniting The Paki Quartet… Paki Up!
The
Homai Te Pakipaki 2011 season is about to “paki up” for
the year but just before we head into the semi-finals we
will be featuring some very special guests.
Heats wrap
up at the end of this month so Homai Te Pakipaki are
bringing back the popular Paki Quartet for a one-off special
episode airing live on Friday 5 August at 8.30pm to
10pm.
Join Homai Te Pakipaki for an entertaining night
where viewers can take a break from the text voting and just
enjoy the music. As well as the Paki Quartet we bring back
some of the more memorable and stand-out contestants from
previous heats who might not have won in the text votes but
impressed the producers.
Producer Erina Tamepo says:
“We’re giving them another platform to perform on before
they go back to their everyday lives.”
You may
remember the Paki Quartet from last year’s grand final and
they also kicked off this year’s Homai Te Pakipaki season.
The quartet is made up of experienced musicians Leon
Wharekura, Chris Powley, Tumanako Farrell and Thomas
Stowers.
Erina Tamepo says the four musicians have
always been good friends and have vaast experience
performing independently, but they had never performed
together until they were brought together as the Paki
Quartet.
She says the Paki Quartet “lifted the
lid” off the Logan Campbell Centre last year and she is
looking forward to having them perform on the show again
next
month.
