Renowned Broadcaster Judy Bailey Shares Stories Of Tasmania
Saturday 23 July, TV1,
7.30pm
In this week’s episode of ‘My Kind of Place’, iconic New Zealand broadcaster, Judy Bailey describes Tasmania as a being a “hidden treasure, a jewel in fact down the very bottom of Australia”
The New Zealand made production by Imagination Television (makes of MasterChef New Zealand and Animal Rescue), describe Judy Bailey as being the “perfect person to host an episode with such a rich narrative and depth of story as Tasmania offers.”
‘Tasmanian Travels’ is the second episode of the new,
ten-part television series, which showcases regional
Australia and holiday experiences, with direct appeal to New
Zealand holidaymakers.
In each episode a New Zealand
celebrity takes viewers on a journey beyond the traditional
gateways to experience a range of holiday experiences as
rich and diverse as the continent itself.
In the first episode, former New Zealand All Black stars, Josh Kronfeld and Frank Bunce took viewers to Illawarra on the South Coast of New South Wales for the ‘ultimate mancation’ which included touring the region by Ferrari, Harley and a traditional bi-plane.
Imagination Television’s Creative Director, Darryl McEwen says the beauty of the series is that each episode has a life of its own which means there is something for everyone, be it food and wine, nature experiences, history or the ultimate boys escape.
The major partner of the series is Tourism Australia who teamed up with Imagination Television to make the series. Tourism Australia New Zealand General Manager, Jenny Aitken says “with just over a million Kiwis visiting Australia each year and 92 per cent returning for more of their favourite holiday destination, My Kind of Place goes a long way to sating the huge appetite Kiwis have exciting and new Aussie holiday experiences that are unique, authentic and accessible.”
Other major partners include Air New
Zealand and Air New Zealand Holidays who each week offer
packages for Kiwis to “see for themselves why this place
is their kind of place.”
Over the coming weeks, Kiwis
can be entertained and inspired by some of their favourite
personalities including Lisa Chappell , Robyn Malcolm and
MasterChef New Zealand judge, Josh Emett.
New Zealand is Australia’s largest inbound market for visitor arrivals. 1,161,800 Kiwis visited Australia during 2010 (up 5% on 2009), spending more than $2 billion. Tourism Australia believes that the New Zealand market has the potential to grow to between $3.4 billion and $4.2 billion in total expenditure by 2020.
