“I feel like that woman in that film with Katherine Hepburn, you know the one..”
Rich, beautiful and bored, Gloria Lord is a charming and outrageous young socialite. One night she meets Jimmy, a handsome writer moonlighting as a waiter at her father’s lavish birthday party. Gloria decides she’s going to marry Jimmy, no matter what he says.
A brilliant new work by New Zealand playwright Richard Huber, Glorious is a quick fire, screwball comedy set in the 1930s, in the vein of classic films like The Philadelphia Story. The show is a skillful blend of sophistication, slapstick and social commentary, timed well to coincide with this year's International Film Festival. Warm up your winter with the Wellington premiere of this fast paced, light and luscious comedy.
“…fast, funny dialogue delivered at breakneck speed … sharp, witty, laugh out loud funny” (Theatreview)
“It's more than glorious, it's brilliant” (Otago Daily Times)
“This pastiche is well timed to provide some light’n'screwy relief from this year’s Great Recession” (NZ Listener)
